Istanbul - Gallipoli and Troy

This trip will show you the Turkish history starting from Ottomans and Byzantine. Coveted by empires across the centuries, straddling both Europe and Asia, Istanbul is one of the world’s great metropolises. You will be visiting Hagia Sophia, Byzantine, Hippodrome, Blue Mosque, Grand Bazaar, Topkapi Palace. Our next visit with a UNESCO World Heritage Site: Troy. Feted down through the ages, Troy is the legendary setting for the long Trojan War, a city only finally conquered when Greek soldiers hid themselves within the “peace offering” of the Trojan Horse to gain access to the city. Continue with Gallipoli. The legendary story of the Trojan wars took place here; the Ottoman sultans built defensive castles that still lord over the coast today; and in the modern era, this is the somber site of World War I’s Gallipoli Campaign, the most famous battle between Allied forces and the Ottoman army of the war.
